In its mission to strengthen the environmental movement throughout the northern and southern states of Baja California, Pro Peninsula strives to provide individuals, communities, and organizations with the tools they need to achieve their conservation goals.

Despite being relatively sparsely populated and in many ways isolated from the rest of Mexico, dozens of organizations and thousands of people are working hard doing research and community work to make sure that this gem of habitat, wildlife and natural beauty remain so for generations to come. Not only is it important to protect the environment, it's imperative to strengthen the local communities who daily make decisions that affect the surrounding ecosystems, which is why many of the institutions listed here focus on exactly that.

Funding areas and criteria are constantly changing, but many of these funders recognize the need for outside support for conservation work on the peninsula, and Mexico in general, where philanthropy and corporate giving are still only beginning to develop on a wider level.
