Five of the world’s seven species of sea turtle are found in waters along the Baja California peninsula, a region which provides both nesting habitat and vital feeding grounds for these majestic creatures. Sadly, all five species are in danger of extinction due to poaching, entanglement in fishing gear, coastal development, pollution and other threats. |
Pro Peninsula's Conservation Tourism program leverages the Grupo Tortuguero's 10 years of research and conservation efforts in communities throughout the region, in order to cultivate locally based, conservation focused tourism projects along the Baja California peninsula.
Through skills development, strategic marketing, and promotion of regulations and quality standards, Pro Peninsula is developing community focused, sustainable economic alternatives as well as giving visitors from around the world the opportunity to experience the wonder of the Baja California peninsula in a responsible manner.
Come experience the work first hand! And while you are at it help preserve some of the Baja California peninsula's precious gems.
