Sea Turtles
Pro Peninsula works diligently to protect the sea turtles of the Baja California peninsula. By working with local leaders and community members through the Grupo Tortuguero (or Sea Turtle Conservation Network), Pro Peninsula is on the cutting edge of sea turtle research, conservation and community outreach.
Five species of sea turtle inhabit the Baja California peninsula: the black turtle, the loggerhead, the olive ridley, the hawksbill and the leatherback. All of them are endangered, and each are protected under Mexican and international law.
