Seri Release Ceremony
In the winter of 2005, five members of the indigenous Seri community of Mexico performed an ancient and nearly forgotten four day leatherback release ceremony. The last time the Seri people were able to perform their sacred ceremony celebrating the animal was in 1981.
With the help of Pro Peninsula, this monumental event helped the Seri elders pass on this important tradition on to the next generation of the Seri youth, the next generation of conservationists.
