August 2006 was a very important month for Pro Peninsula, proCaguama and the Grupo Tortuguero. Just one of the many different activities that took place was the Fourth annual Loggerhead Sea Turtle Festival in Puerto Adolfo López Mateos, during which we were honored by a visit from the governor of the state of Baja California Sur, various state and municipal representatives and the travelling turtles, not to mention dancing, music, food and fun. Many of the authorities who visited Lopez even got the chance to go out and monitor loggerheads, measure and tag them, and release them back into the ocean. We would like give a special thanks to the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council for having made this festival possible.
